Cindy Hing and The Art of Paying Attention
A Cindy Hing is dancing a jig at the Irish Festival, crawling into the bunker at Peanut Island, slurping bubble tea in Jupiter, and strolling the pier in Lake Worth — all in a day’s work, and, if you ask her, a day well spent. For 15 years, she has been diving into the Palm Beach scene with a camera and a sunny smile, chasing the county’s stories for her fast-paced shows Day Tripping and Fest Quest. She’s an Emmy-nominated producer who has worked for PBS and now runs her own company, Jetsetter Films. But what keeps her coming back, town after town, year after year, is less about the places than about a habit of mind — a way of paying attention that looks a lot like a recipe for living well.
With so many towns and points of interest, what makes her aim a camera at a place — and what disqualifies one?
